Valerina's Vineyard

"Valerina's Vineyard"

Valerina thought desire would never grace her doorstep ever again after her husband died. Then, a stranger with a carefree spirit arrived at the vineyard.

His name was Gio.

Possibilities ripen in “Valerina’s Vineyard”.

Excuse me, ladies” Clasping canvas satchel and craning neck to get a closer look at those who were there, “Is Mrs. Allegretti here?”

A woman’s voice called from the farthest end of the smattering of ladies who were there, “Si” She walked past the others and towards this stranger, as she removed her large-brimmed straw hat. She was dressed in denim shirt, jeans and tan, hiking boots. Fit-figured woman who had just removed her hat revealed brown hair with incoming streaks of gray, styled on one side over her shoulder in a loose braid, “I am Valerina Allegretti”.

Giovanni felt relief over finding the woman he’d been looking for as he shook hands and introduced himself to her, “Mrs. Allegretii, I am Giovanni”.

“Finally, we meet”, She smiled.

Valerina was happy to meet the young man who captured the heart of her granddaughter Stellina. Giovanni wanted to make a good impression when meeting the woman who raised his fiancé from the age of 7, when her parents were killed in a plane crash.

At 23 years old, Stellina Allegretti was in her second year at Sapienza University on the path to attaining a Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing. It is at that Roman institution of higher learning that she met 27 year-old Giovanni Della Rossa who was pursuing a degree in the program for Doctor of Medicine and Surgery to become a heart surgeon.

Giovanni and Stellina were engaged a short while before the end of semester and planned to come to the vineyard together. Sometimes that which is planned with ease, never really goes perfectly. In this case, it was Stellina having to stay in Rome for a few extra days, re-taking a pair of end of term exams that had been swallowed by a snafu in the University’s computer system. She sent her fiancé ahead for he and her grandmother to get to know each other better, as they were going to be family soon enough. Only Valerina had been told the blessed news of their engagement and was sworn by her granddaughter not to let anyone else in on this lovely secret before a welcome home dinner for Stellina by family and friends on that following Sunday evening.

This younger man’s preconceived image of a grandmother had just been upturned with this matured, brown-eyed beauty. Valerina Allegretti may have been 63 years-old, but in 27 year-old Giovanni Della Rossa’s mind she was definitely turning him on without even trying.

For the next four days, the two most important people in Stellina’s life would get to know each other better, until her scheduled arrival on Friday.

Late afternoon that Wednesday, the widow showed the medical student around the vineyard for a private tour of the type of life Stellina had come from before going off to Rome. Giovanni’s only interactions with Stellina’s grandmother in the past were a few brief conversations over the telephone when answering it on behalf of his fiancé. On the nightstand in the University dorm room only a single picture of Stellina with her late grandfather was seen by him.

Yet, there was an attraction he was forming to this woman of humble smile and gentle words that walked with him around the vineyard.

Giovanni stole many a glimpse of her body as they walked along; from breasts that retained a light bounce to a nice ass that he wished his hands could caress. For this younger man, this vintage rose definitely perked up his journey into the countryside. As a light breeze blew past them as they walked along, her pale pink, cotton dress with patterns of poppies along the hem had an effect of molding that fabric momentarily to Valerina’s nice figure with every gust.

That carefree aura of a man his age had a way of releasing thoughts before thinking them through in a passing remark to Valerina, “I can see where Stellina inherited her radiant looks from”.
